Isn’t it funny how people can see something inside of us,
say our brilliance for example….
and we can be totally and completely blind to seeing it within ourselves?
They see our gifts, our talents, our beauty, our admirable qualities, dare I even say our Unique Genius,
yet we can often be TOTALLY and completely blind to it ourselves
we can’t see it,
or feel it
it feels so far removed from who we see ourselves to be
After coaching many other coaches, mentors, leaders, facilitators and health care professionals… I’ve observed some key reasons that I think explain this phenomenon.
And this is what I wanted to share with you to see if you find any reflections for yourself.
So you can see your own brilliance in the mirror
See your genius,
See your light.
So here we go…
Your Unique Genius may seem absolutely ordinary…to YOU.
That is, because it is so “innate” to you,
that you don’t see it as special
yet when in a room of other people with different skills,
you stand out in the crowd
you basically see your genius as normal as having an arm with a hand attached to it…it just IS!
Nothing special.
WRONG!
Here’s the thing….
it’s not ordinary
it’s not “normal”
it’s unique
solely.
to.
you.
nobody could do it, be it, say it, think it, perform it the way you do.
that is your genius.
no one has been what you have been through,
in the way you have been through it
no one can say it just like you
with all the added quirks and style that you do
and that’s just you being you
it’s effortless
and that’s why you don’t see it
that’s why maybe you can’t see it
maybe you even have reasons why you don’t want to allow yourself to see it
because maybe you believe that in order for it to be “genius”
you had to learn specific things
at a specific type of school
or by a specific instructor or teacher.
and it had to be HARD.
Not true.
Those are just made up beliefs.
I remember when I began to uncover one of my unique geniuses.
It was a very profound moment. I was having a conversation with my friend Jonathan, and I was explaining a situation to him where a couple was getting into an argument. They were off at a distance, yet I knew exactly how each person felt and the dynamics of how the conversation was going to unfold even though I couldn’t hear anything of what was going on.
I could just FEEL it. I could FEEL what they were thinking.
Sounds weird right?
I thought everybody could do this. Apparently not the way I do.
I basically could read the entire situation without hearing a word that was said. I could also predict how the situation was going to unfold. And the entanglement that created it.
I have come to learn that how I perceive information is primarily through FEELING. I can feel thoughts, I can feel emotions (which I avoided for the longest time lol) and I can feel shifts in energy (this one has many fun applications :D)
So prior to this conversation with Jonathan, I thought everyone did and was aware of this. Apparently not.
Yet this felt second nature to me. Like walking, or talking.
It just IS.
Once discovering this, I then had SO MANY “aha” moments.
I remembered all the times people would say “how did you know that?”
I began to see all the moments when I would be working with chiropractic patients and I “knew” stuff that was going on with them, without them saying a word.
I detected an asymptomatic tumor in a lung.
I felt relationship issues in couples that hadn’t even fully started to occur…until many months later.
I would know when there was something emotionally out of balance….even on the most unemotional face.
So where in your life right now do people acknowledge what you do,
and you just think it’s so easy,
so normal,
so natural.
like it’s nothing to get excited about.
Have you ever considered that maybe it’s not common,
that maybe you have a specific skill set,
or dare I say genius in this area?
Another key I find that keeps people blind to their own brilliance and embodying their genius…
Is that you compare yourself to someone who has different values and experiences than you do
and this is literally the key to crushing your self esteem and confidence if you’re looking for one.
and it is also deadly to recognizing and embodying YOUR genius
because you think you gotta be like “so and so” who is successful
who does it the “A-B-C” way
and you heard that the “A-B-C” way is the best way to get the result you want
and that it may in fact *be the only way* to get what you want.
even though it feels so gross and out of alignment to do it that way
Lies.
Lies.
Lies.
well here’s the thing. The A-B-C process works for an ABC person.
And you may not be an ABC person.
Maybe you like it X-Y-Z.
Or Q-A-Z.
Or maybe R5Y
And that’s completely ok.
Have you ever noticed that for someone who says “YOU HAVE TO DO X TO GET A RESULT”
There is someone who did “Y” and got the same success
just in a different way?
I see this ALL. THE. TIME. in nutrition…
Keto.
Low fat.
Low carb.
No carb.
Slow carb.
Vegan.
Vegetarian.
Carnivore.
Raw.
Reduced calories.
lol…the list goes on and on and on.
at the end of the day you gotta find what works for you,
because that will WORK FOR YOU.
So many clients feel relieved when they learn they can be successful totally being them
I mean, what a relief
it is just too much energy trying to BE like somebody else
especially because you’ll never become number 1 of being someone else
you can only become number 1 of ….well…YOU!
So it’s totally cool to acknowledge and see the brilliance of other successful people doing what they’re doing, but at the end of the day you gotta stay in your lane,
and by staying in your lane I mean,
tuning into YOU
and following the voice inside
there is…
NO.OTHER.OPTION.
Acknowledge. But don’t compare.
Comparison minimizes the unique way YOU do it.
So those are the biggest keys I see when people are completely blind to owning the inner brilliance inside,
and here’s the thing,
you may even be one of those people who think
“I don’t have a genius”
Those are for…
smart people
brunettes
athletes
academics
rich people
people who wear lulu lemon
blah blah blah
the list goes on and on
I want to let you in on a little secret….
EVERYONE HAS A UNIQUE GENIUS.
EVERYONE.
no exception to the rule.
you have a genius
and when you discover it
you will feel less inclined to compare
because a lion doesn’t compare it’s brilliance with a peacock
they both have value
they both own their value
and their uniqueness
and it keeps them in their lane
so stop trying to be a parrot if you aren’t one,
just BE YOU please,
XO
