(I can’t believe 2025 is just around the corner….)
Setting goals are like planting seeds.
But if the soil—your core values—aren’t aligned, those seeds won’t grow.
It’s not about pushing harder; it’s about understanding why you’re pursuing those goals in the first place.
Take one of my clients, for example. They have a high value on family. They wanted to grow their business and had worked with multiple coaches who promised results, but nothing seemed to stick.
The problem?
They were building a system based on someone else’s values, not their own.
So this made it hard for them to take consistent action required for that business model to grow. Which resulted in frustration, resentment and feelings of failure.
Here’s the secret…if you haven’t achieved your goals…
There is nothing wrong with you.
And of course you’re good enough to achieve your goals.
It was never about that.
If you’re not achieving your goals there are 2 probable reasons:
1. The actions required to achieve the goal are not congruent or aligned with what is most important to you.
There is a solution for this.
2. You require more time to grow the seeds you are planting
You see, when your goals are aligned, congruent, and you are taking action…it’s only a matter of time before you achieve them.
For my client, once we identified their innate business model—one that aligned with their values—their efforts felt more free-flowing, energized, and inspired. That’s when real growth happened.
Studies show only 9% of people achieve their resolutions. Why? Because many set goals that don’t resonate with who they really are.
When your goals reflect your true self, momentum builds naturally—like running downhill. But when they don’t, it’s like climbing uphill in quicksand.
Frustration sets in, leading to low confidence and self-doubt.
It’s a vicious cycle.
Knowing your values ARE the first key foundation for success.
And when you know your true priorities, you can set goals that you actually congruent to who you are, and your confidence and belief in yourself will naturally grow.
And you WILL achieve your goals, won’t you?
Cheering you on,
Dr. Shelby
