I see so many posts on tricks, strategies & hacks to improve motivation.
In my experience, most are just plain BS and not sustainable.
From years of experimenting with various methods, modalities, hacks and strategies, I have found the most important key to having unlimited motivation is to….
organize your life around what matters to you most.
discover your highest values,
what truly inspires you,
and create your life from that place.
the simplest analogy to demonstrate this idea is to watch a 10 year old boy play video games.
Do you have to motivate or bribe him to play his games?
or punish him if he doesn’t play a certain amount of hours?
Do you have to tell him to get up early, or stay up late to play his favourite game?
lol…you’re probably thinking of your own child (or maybe even husband) now,
and the answer becomes quite clear…
of course not!!!
The real truth is that you probably have to remind him to eat and drink because he could go for HOURS on end playing without moving an inch.
When someone is doing what they love,
doing what inspires them,
and YES, even challenges them,
they don’t need external motivation.
the motivation comes from within,
it’s infinite,
unlimited,
vast,
and often never ending.
Have you ever found yourself in those moments?
Maybe it’s playing with your grandson,
or teaching in front of an audience,
or maybe it’s putting around in your garden,
or maybe it’s helping clients solve their most complex challenges
(this is one of mine!)
you see,
when you are living your life according to what is most fulfilling to you,
you don’t need the external fluff to get through the day,
you naturally wake up inspired,
you have energy,
you have vitality,
you have more resistance when challenges do arise.
you are simply in alignment.
you know this.
your body knows this
even your CELLS know this, and your physiology is even at ease.
you are simply IN FLOW.
yet when your day is filled with activities that drain you,
that are lower priority,
your energy is depleted,
you are more stressed,
you have less resiliencey,
you agitate and frustrate easily,
you are bored, cranky, and just plain not fun to be around.
you may even get body feedback such as unexplained pain,
or symptoms to let you know there is something out of whack,
because your mind AND body are actually connected,
seriously,
Take a moment right now and think of a task you HATE doing.
For me, it’s doing IT work lol.
notice how your body feels,
(mine CRINGES!!!)
Now think of something you absolutely love doing…
maybe for the canadians right now, its sitting on a beach,
feeling the warm sun on your skin,
staring off into the ocean, listening to the soothing waves.
And how do you feel now?
Notice the difference?!
So yes, your mind and body are connected,
and the easiest way to see if you are living in your highest values is to
TUNE INTO YOU,
it could even be asking your body a simple yes or no question and starting from there
your body will NEVER lie to you,
so if you want to experience more ease,
more flow,
more vitality,
more energy,
start with checking in with your body first.
